Room to Spare: Less is More With New Bed Expander
For truck owners who transport their bikes periodically, bed extenders are practically standard equipment these days. The cool, gate-like apparatus contains cargo when traveling with the tailgate in the reclined position--- which is most of the time during riding season. There’s just one slight problem: Although they provide plenty of additional, secure space when bikes are in the back of the truck, bed extenders can be major space hogs when they’re not needed.

Until now.

Top Line Manufacturing’s new fold-down Bed Expander system boasts all the features and benefits of most other high-quality extenders on the market, but with an added twist--- it collapses when stored. “Most other systems waste up to 2’ of valuable storage capacity when they’re not in use,” says Top Line’s sales and marketing guy Brett Butolph. “The Bed Expander doesn’t rotate into the bed of the truck like other systems; it folds down against the tailgate when not in use.”

Fold down, indeed! In its collapsed configuration, the Bed Expander only protrudes 5” from the tailgate, and quick-release pins make opening and closing the space-saving system a snap. And the Bed Expander is good for more than merely guaranteeing the safe passage of riding gear. The folks at Top Line realize riders occasionally travel without their bike, or possibly even use their truck for something other than hauling motorcycles.

“We feel the Bed Expander is the most attractive system on the market,” says Butolph. “And it not ‘truck sensitive,’ meaning the unit mounts to the tailgate while never touching the truck bed.”
The Bed Expander is made of high-grade anodized aluminum and stainless steel, and the 16-pound unit comes fully assembled. What’s more, the entire system can be completely removed by pulling two quick-release pins.

“Most truck owners won’t need to remove the system since it folds down against the tailgate,” adds Butolph, “but we wanted to give the customer the option of complete system removal. It’s just another reason why we consider the Bed Expander to be more versatile than other bed-extending products on the market.”

As something striving to save space while at the same time affording more of it, you might say the Bed Expander is a bit of an oxymoron. Yet keep in mind that while bigger is often better, sometimes less is more. Case in point: How much room do you have to spare on your showroom floor for a high-quality, high-demand product such as the Bed Expander? With Top Lines’ new system, a little goes a long way.
