Flip-out cargo bed expanders for pickup trucks are becoming more commonplace. Both factory and after market versions are showing up on a wide variety of trucks. They can effectively add two feet of cargo carrying capacity when in use. Typically, however, they simply rotate back inside the cargo bed when not in use, eating up a couple of feet of space. This is a serious waste of cargo room, particularly in trucks with already shortened beds. The Paramount, Calif., firm Top Line has noodled up a creative solution to this annoyance and calls it the Fold-Down Bed Expander.

This system folds nearly flat against the tailgate when not being used, taking up only about 5 inches of space. Top Line tells us that its system can be installed in any pickup truck with no drilling required. Quick release pins make speedy work of opening and closing the unit. When no in use, the system can even be totally removed effortlessly by simply disengaging the quick release pins. Weighing only 16 pounds, Top Line’s expander is made of stainless steel, anodized aluminum and molded nylon.
